Located in the Chinese provice of Shanxi, the 1200MW pump storage project will produce electricity which will be connected to the Shanxi power grid and will be responsible for regulating the peak-lopping, trough load filling, frequency modulation and emergency stand by.

The project has the highest head among the chinese built and projected PSP’s.

Two parallell pressure shafts will be simultaneously excavated using two ALIMAK Raise Climbers modell STH-5DD. The upper part of the pressure shafts are just over 500 m long in a 55° angle. The lower portion is 200m in 60° angle.

These two Raise Climbers are the latest in a row delivered to hydro power projects in China. Recent earlier deliveries are for Tongbai, Tian Huang Ping, Ming Tombs and Guangzhou I projects.
