On behalf of MHI Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Europe, FAM supplied a portal reclaimer KP1200.41 with a capacity of 1,200tph for the new fertilizer plant in Garabogaz, Turkmenistan, for processing urea and ammonia.

Turkmenistan, which sits on the world’s fourth-biggest natural gas reserves, launched the construction project in the framework of the ‘National Programme for Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan in 2011-2030’. Once completed, the Garabogaz fertilizer under the flagship of the state-owned chemical company Turkmenhimiya will become the largest facility of its kind in the country. The products (1.16Mt of urea and 660,000t of ammonia annually) will be both exported and deployed domestically.

For export purposes, the project involves the construction of a new port facility near Garabogaz Bay on the Caspian Sea coastline. The fertilizers will primarily be shipped to the European markets, as well as to the Far East countries. Also for this project FAM offers a range of the appropriate equipment: a system consisting of several stationary belt conveyors, a tripper car and a ship loader type SL1200.28 for loading vessels of up to 7,000DWT at a rate of 1,200t/h.

Having supplied extensive equipment for the Garlyk mining and processing plant for production of potash fertilizers, FAM continues to expand its successful presence in Turkmenistan by these new projects.
