Industrial gear unit specialist Hansen Industrial Transmissions (HIT), acquired by Sumitomo Heavy Industries (SHI) in March 2011, announces that its European assembly centre, based in the Antwerp gear plant, in 2012, will integrate the engineering, production, assembly, sales and service of the PARAMAX® industrial gearboxes of SHI for the EMEA region.

In the framework of the global synergy projects, HIT’s product offering for the EMEA region has been extended by integrating the PARAMAX® industrial gearbox activity of SHI. As such, the company has forged, together with the Power Transmission & Controls group of SHI, a customer-orientated sales and service platform. Alongside, a clear product strategy for the EMEA region has been developed, offering its customers and end users a more accurate selection of gear units to serve both high and low torque applications.

Merely one year after the acquisition by SHI, the global integration of HIT into SHI – to create a world leader by innovation and globalization in the power transmission market – is still ongoing in most parts of the world but has been finalised in Europe already to serve the EMEA region.

Understanding what it takes to serve standard as well as demanding applications, whilst providing best in class customer service, HIT has set up an EU sales and service platform covering the EMEA region. This platform was shaped in cooperation with Sumitomo Cyclo Germany group (SHI’s Power Transmission and Control (PTC) division in Europe).

Combining the strengths of both HIT’s P4 and SHI’s PARAMAX® gear units – two of the world’s most reputed brands in reliable and durable industrial gear drives – a complementary match of industrial gear units ranging between 3 and 1100kNm is now available from one single source.

Long standing customer relations, a continuous strive for product and technology leadership and keeping pace with today’s market requirements enabled the organisation to shape and implement the complementary product merger.

It allows OEM’s and/or end users to either opt for P4 gear units (high torque range applications), and as such buy total solutions and benefit from flexible, customised and engineered solutions; or select a PARAMAX® quality gear drive (lower torque applications) and as such choose a more standard product. Either way, the extended and more precise selection opportunities will cater for more economic solutions in any application as the product offering is tailored to customer needs.

With the regional sales and service network all over the EMEA area, higher and more flexible availability of local contacts is assured. Integrating PARAMAX® gear units in the HIT product portfolio and incorporating the production of PARAMAX® in the Belgian gear plant later this year, customer responsiveness will improve significantly.
