HDPE Sweep Bend/Arc Bend for Mining Projects
Puhui Industry’s one-piece thermoformed HDPE large-radius Bend pipe (Sweep Bend) is formed by the entire section of pressure pipe through controlled heating, mould forming, cooling and shaping. Unlike traditional segmented mitred bends, which involve mitred cuts and welded joints, the one-piece thermoforming process ensures the curved section maintains a seamless pipe wall with no internal mitred welds. This not only reduces the number of welds and quality inspection points at the bend significantly but also effectively prevents stress concentration, significantly enhancing the steering reliability of pipelines in complex terrains and limited spaces.
Compared to short-radius designs, the long-radius design’s smooth and continuous arc allows the medium and particles to turn gently, greatly reducing local turbulence and pressure loss. For highly abrasive media such as slurry and tailings, this structure can disperse concentrated particle impacts effectively, distributing wear evenly across the long arc section, thereby significantly extending pipeline life. It is particularly well-suited for demanding applications such as high-head drainage, process water, return water, dust suppression, and tailings conveyance.
Puhui Industry strictly implements comprehensive testing of all specifications, thoroughly verifying the wall thickness at the thinnest point of the outer arc, inner and outer diameters, ovality, angles, and centerline radius to ensure that the minimum wall thickness fully meets the pressure rating requirements of the main pipeline or is confirmed compliant through specialised performance tests. Additionally, longer straight pipe sections can be left at both ends of the elbow to provide ample installation space for on-site heat fusion, electrofusion, or flange connections.
