The CanaryComm-IS has the same capabilities as the CanaryComm, but the intrinsically safe steel casing and antenna have been specifically developed for use below ground in coal mines, or other scenarios where methane may be present. The system is MSHA and MA certified.

The system can be relocated with the in-mine shelter as needed, and with text messaging and text-based alerts enabled, miners and rescue teams can communicate to surface when air contamination makes speech dangerous. The CanaryComm-IS also supports transmission of AMS data in real time to better understand environmental conditions underground, and send alerts when dangerous conditions are present.
