The World of Industrial Corrosion

By Chesterton
Corrosion is the deterioration of material caused by environmental exposure. This can result in loss of a material, or its critical properties, due to chemical, electrochemical or other reaction (abrasion). Mineral ores are mined in the form of metal oxides. These ore bodies are then subjected to various metallurgical processes to convert them into the metals we use on a daily basis. The corrosion process is essentially the material reverting back from the high energy metal to the lower energy, more stable metal oxide. To read more, please download this free white paper.
