DYWIDAG-Systems International (DSI) has entered into an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares of Schaum-Chemie Mikolów, Poland, and all related intellectual property and know-how for mining applications from the Schaum-Chemie Group. The acquisition represents another important step in DSI’s strategy to strengthen its footprint in the European mining market.

Schaum-Chemie Wilhelm Bauer was established in 1951 and is considered one of the pioneers for the application of chemical products for strata consolidation and cavity filling in German coal mines. In 1992 Schaum-Chemie entered the Polish mining market by establishing Schaum-Chemie Mikołów Sp. z o.o., which became a leading player in Poland and also in the Czech Republic, working with major coal companies in both countries. Schaum-Chemie Mikolow continuously expanded its product range and today offers a broad portfolio of injection resins, cavity filling foams and mineral powders including relevant accessories for applications in underground mining.

Schaum-Chemie Mikolow will become DSI’s platform for the Polish and Czech mining markets and intends to further complement its product portfolio.

DSI Group CEO Patrik Nolaker commented: "The acquisition allows DSI to penetrate the Polish and Czech mining markets which are, despite the current slowdown, among the largest in Europe. I am pleased to welcome a strong team of experts who will further support DSI’s global product line expansion towards chemical and mineral products for underground applications."
