DAMM gold mine canada

Extracting precious and industrial metals from deep below the earth’s surface is not a business for the faint-hearted.

Heat, noise, dust, vibration and the constant risk of accident and injury place extreme demands on the people who work deep underground, as well as on the equipment they use.

Optimised Communications

As one of the industry’s most advanced and efficient producers of gold and industrial metals, New Gold regards safety at work as a top priority.

With this in mind, the company has entered into an agreement with DAMM’s Canadian partner, Cartel Communication Systems Inc, to install a new state-of-the-art TetraFlex radio communications network at its New Afton mine site in British Colombia, Canada.

Canadian First

The agreement sets the stage for the first TetraFlex network to be deployed in Canada, and extends DAMM’s presence into the North American mining markets. Mining operations around the globe have taken advantage of the scalable, feature-rich IP-based technology TetraFlex delivers.

Seamless integration

As well as being able to reuse New Gold’s existing 800MHz infrastructure, the new TetraFlex system will accommodate all of their existing operational groups and provide mine safety personnel the ability to constantly monitor all operational talk channels.

This functionality is crucial for a mining operation, where it is vital to know where everyone is, especially in cases of accident or emergency. The new system will be delivered with DAMM’s Dispatcher option, and a voice gateway that will interconnect with New Gold’s PABX telephone system.
