Platina Resources has initiated Phase 3 aircore drilling at the Mt McKenna Gold Project, located in the Laverton gold district in Western Australia (WA).

The programme targets key areas within the project, specifically exploration Targets 2, 3, 4, and 5.

This stage involves up to 9,000m of drilling, focusing on geological structures and anomalies identified through various surveys and mapping techniques.

It is a crucial part of Platina's broader aim to complete 20,000m of aircore and reverse circulation (RC) drilling by 2026.

This objective spans across its projects at Mt McKenna, Sunrise Bore, and Mt Morgans South within the Laverton district.

The current programme includes about 3,000m at Target 2, previously postponed during Phase 2 in February 2026 due to ground conditions and mechanical issues with the drill rig.

While the assay results for Target 2 have been sent to the laboratory for analysis, they remain pending.

Platina managing director Corey Nolan said: “We have rapidly advanced our pipeline of drill-ready targets and completed the necessary cultural heritage clearance work to enable this significant phase of drilling.

“Our technical team are particularly encouraged by the scale and number of newly identified structures across Targets 3, 4 and 5, which will now be systematically tested through this programme.

“Targets defined from this phase of aircore drilling will be prioritised for follow-up with deeper reverse circulation drilling in the coming months.”

In September 2025, the company announced the acquisition of a 100% interest in the Mt McKenna Gold Project.

Platina completed the acquisition by purchasing all shares in Jasper Exploration, the owner during that time.
