Europe witnessed a 4.9% rise in IT hiring activity in the mining industry in November 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
November 2021 has seen an increase of 20.94% in the overall hiring activity when compared with October 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 5.02% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in November 2021, registering a decrease of 0.45% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in November 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 57.73% in November 2021, a 27.27% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 20.62% in November 2021, marking a flat month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 11.34% in November 2021, a 10% rise from October 2021.
Computer Support Specialists registered a share of 4.12% in November 2021, a 20% decline over the previous month.
Top five mining companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 12% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s mining industry during November 2021 over previous month.
Polyus posted 30 IT jobs in November 2021 and registered an increase of 42.86% over the previous month, followed by ThyssenKrupp with 28 jobs and a 20% drop. En+ Group with 11 IT jobs and Anglo American with 10 jobs, recorded a 22.22% rise and an 11.11% rise, respectively, while Rio Tinto recorded a 400% increase with 5 job postings during November 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s mining industry
Russia commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 43.3% share in November 2021, a 35.48% increase over October 2021. Germany featured next with a 19.59% share, down 5% over the previous month. The UK recorded a 17.53% share, a growth of 70% compared with October 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 76.29%, up by 8.82% from October 2021. Mid Level positions with a 16.49% share, registered a growth of 60% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 7.22% share, down 12.5% over October 2021.
