July 2021 has seen decrease of 32.4% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 5.04% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2021, registering an increase of 0.98% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 38.1% in July 2021, a 69.81% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 21.43% in July 2021, marking a 30.77% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 16.67% in July 2021, a 61.11% drop from June 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 47.62% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s mining industry during July 2021 over previous month.
Rio Tinto posted 8 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a decline of 20% over the previous month, followed by Voestalpine with 7 jobs and a flat growth. ChelPipe with 6 IT jobs and En++ Group with 6 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 50% increase, respectively, while ArcelorMittal recorded a flat growth with 4 job postings during July 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s mining industry
The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 23.81% share in July 2021, a 16.67% decline over June 2021. Russia featured next with a 21.43% share, down 75.68% over the previous month. Austria recorded a 16.67% share, a flat growth compared with June 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 83.33%, down by 54.55% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 7.14% share, a decline of 82.35% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 7.14% share, down 25% over June 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 2.38%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
