AKS designed, manufactured and installed a custom wastewater treatment plant for a new Defence Fire Fighting Training Facility. The plant was designed to create a ‘closed loop’ system to minimise environmental impacts from activities at the facility.

The system activates when firefighting training is in progress, water with Dry Chemical Powders and Training Foam Concentrate is captured in a bunded area which drains to a raw water buffer tank in preparation for treatment.

The treatment system is managed by a custom PLC, complete with remote monitoring, providing the convenience of off-site smart device control.

Primary screen filtration is installed for the removal of particles and sediment followed by deep bed glass media filtration. Tertiary filtration consists of large GAC filters for the removal of chemical contaminants. Treated water is then dosed with Chlorine and continually monitored to ensure quality levels.
