The world’s third-largest Caterpillar dealer Sime Darby Industrial (SDI) has selected iSolutions’ AMT software to complement its Microsoft Dynamics AX (AX) for equipment management. Sime Darby operates Caterpillar dealerships across more than 140 branches in ten countries through the Asia Pacific region, including Hastings Deering in Queensland, Australia.

AMT is a dedicated equipment and contract management solution providing specialist functionality for customer service agreement (CSA), project management contract, and maintenance contract (MARC) management. AMT is also used for strategic asset management and as a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS).

A representative from Sime Darby commented: "Sime Darby recognised that, while Dynamics AX is a solid ERP platform, for specialist equipment management functionality, a dedicated, best-of-breed solution was required. We have that in AMT."

Sime Darby chose AMT because of its rich, off-the-shelf functionality for contract and CSA management, and ease-of-integration with enterprise resource systems (ERP).

Like Barloworld, Finning, Westrac and many other Cat dealers, complementing a base ERP with AMT has proven to be a very cost-effective and low-risk way of extend the capability of these core systems.

The AX – AMT solution will begin roll-out in the third quarter of this year and conclude in 2015.
