Metso and Valmet did not disclose the value of the transaction, which is expected to close on 1 October 2026.

The acquired business, currently marketed under the Flowrox brand, covers pump technologies designed for demanding process conditions.

These pumps are used in applications such as transferring and dosing abrasive, corrosive, viscous and crystallising slurries, tasks common in the mining industry.

Typical uses include thickener underflow, filter feed, flocculant dosing, slurry sampling and recirculation.

According to Metso, the products are supported by a growing installed base, generating ongoing sales of spare parts and service.

Following the acquisition, the hose pump technologies will be integrated into Metso’s pumps portfolio and rebranded under the Metso name.

Production will move to Metso’s manufacturing facilities in Lappeenranta, Finland. Employees connected to the business will also transfer to this location.

Metso stated that the addition of the hose and cavity pump technologies will enable it to supply more comprehensive slurry handling and pumping solutions throughout the mining flowsheet.

The company emphasised that the financial impact of the acquisition would not be material.

Metso’s existing offerings for slurry management include a range of hoses, hydrocyclones, maintenance services, pipes, pumps, spare parts and valves.

The business operates a global manufacturing and service network serving key mining markets.

Metso pumps business line vice-president Tiago Marques Oliveira said: “We are excited to welcome the new offerings as well as the team and their expertise to Metso.

“This acquisition strengthens our ability to deliver end-to-end slurry handling solutions, with [a] stronger and complementing offering in demanding heavy-duty applications.

“In addition, it enhances our aftermarket and service capabilities as a long-term full life cycle partner in key mining markets globally.”

Last month, Metso extended its long-term supply agreement with a major mining company in South America for the provision of MX crusher wear parts used in Nordberg MP1250 crushers.
