KBR has been awarded a $1.285bn contract to provide engineering, procurement management and construction management for the Hope Downs 4 iron ore mine in Western Australia.
Under the contract, KBR will provide design, engineering, procurement management, project and construction management for the Hope Downs 4 iron ore mine, located 620 miles north of Perth.

Construction of the mine is scheduled to begin in February 2011 and will be completed in early 2013.
The Hope Downs 4 iron ore mine is a part of a joint venture between Hancock Prospecting and Rio Tinto.
