Nickel explorer and miner Atlantic Nickel has announced that its Santa Rita mine in Brazil remains fully operational with some limited disruptions to the supply chain as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. By the end of the first quarter, the mine completed its second and third shipments ahead of schedule, with the first shipment carried out in January this year. So far, the company has produced more than 30,000 dry metric tonnes (dmt) of nickel concentrate.

In a bid to boost employment for the country’s post-coronavirus economic recovery, three companies in the resources sector of Queensland, Australia are pushing ahead with apprenticeship intake programmes for next year. Companies involved in the employment pathway programmes include Glencore, BHP and Hastings Deering.

The Covid-19 pandemic has hit the royalty revenue collection in the Koida Mining Circle (KMC) of the Sundergarh district in the Indian state of Odisha, reported The New Indian Express. KMC’s revenue collection for Q1 of FY2020-21 stood at around Rs1.2bn (approximately $15.9m) during April and May. This trend is expected to continue for  the next few months as there will be minimal production during monsoon season.
