Volta Metals has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Whitesand First Nation for potential collaboration on the phase one exploration programme for the Falcon West, Crescent Lake and Junior Lake Lithium projects.

Covering an area of 13km² (1,311 hectares), the Falcon West project is located within the Caribou Greenstone Belt and covers the Wabigoon-English River Sub-province Boundary Zone.

Volta Metals CEO Kerem Usenmez said: "Volta is committed to working collaboratively and respectfully with all indigenous groups and creating a mutually beneficial working relationship to explore in indigenous traditional territory.

“We acknowledge Whitesand, Animbiigoo Zaagi'igan Anishinaabek and Aroland in their commitment to protect and enhance the land and resource-based economy within their traditional territory.”

The company has also secured a three-year exploration permit for its Falcon West Lithium Project.

With the permit in place, the company plans to complete all customary exploration work on the Falcon West property.

The initial programme at the Falcon West project will focus on mapping and sampling the extent and orientation of the known lithium-caesium-tantalum pegmatites.

In a press statement, Volta Metals said: “Documented Li pegmatites, based on historic data, occur over a 150m x 600m area, and mineralisation remains open for expansion. The company considers the property to be underexplored with good-to-excellent potential to expand and/or discover additional lithium-enriched pegmatites.”

Volta Metals is planning to undertake the initial mapping, prospecting and sampling at the 32km² Crescent Lake Property.

The project covers the potential northward extension of the Crescent and Zig Zag pegmatites.

Located 1.5km east of the lithium-bearing Swole Lake pegmatite boulder field, the 38km² Junior Lake property covers a portion of the evolved Summit Lake batholith.
