Engineering company Monadelphous Group has secured A$150m ($102m) worth of new contracts and contract extensions from Australian iron ore company Fortescue, mining giant BHP and Anglo-Australian company Rio Tinto.

Fortescue Metals has selected Monadelphous to supply and build an overland conveyor and transfer station at the Christmas Creek mine site in Pilbara, Western Australia.

Under the contract, Monadelphous will be responsible for civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation works.

Work is due to start immediately and is scheduled for completion in the first half of 2024.

Monadelphous has also secured a two-year extension to its existing contract at BHP’s Olympic Dam operations in South Australia for maintenance services.

Under the contract, Monadelphous will undertake work including mechanical and electrical maintenance, shutdown and project services.

Reputed to be one of the world's most significant deposits of copper, gold and uranium, the Olympic Dam operation comprises underground and surface operations and operates a fully integrated processing facility from ore to metal.

Monadelphous has also secured a two-year extension to its existing contract with Rio Tinto.

The contract involves the provision of mechanical, electrical and access maintenance services for fixed plant shutdowns at its Gove operations in Australia’s Northern Territory.

The Gove project has been supplying bauxite for more than 40 years to the global aluminium industry, as well as domestically to the Queensland Alumina and Yarwun refineries in Gladstone, Queensland.
