Barrick Gold has reached an agreement with Cisco to collaborate in the research and development of a digital platform for Cortez gold mine in Nevada, US.

The partners will primarily introduce advanced sensing technology and real-time operational data for informed decision-making.

Furthermore, equipment at the mine site will be automated to boost production, and predictive algorithms will be used for precision and speed of maintenance and metallurgy.

The offering is expected to close around 14 October, with proceeds being used for exploration activities on its Canadian mineral exploration projects.
