The acquisition follows the announcement of a high-grade gold discovery by Ramp Metals at its Rottenstone SW property.

Ramp Metals reported an impressive 73.55 grams per tonne (g/t) of gold over 7.5m in drill-hole Ranger-1, which has sparked interest in the surrounding area.

ALX’s decision to acquire the Blackbird claims was influenced by this recent discovery and the historical significance of the nearby Rottenstone Mine.

Its research indicates that the Blackbird property is situated in the Rottenstone Domain, characterised by a high magnetic trend that mirrors the geological setting of the Rottenstone Mine and Ramp Metals’ 2024 discovery.

Despite the historical exploration efforts, the project area has not been surveyed since 1968, when a radiometric survey was conducted for uranium exploration, which did not yield significant findings.

The company plans to employ modern remote sensing techniques to identify potential target areas for alteration minerals.

The claims were staked with a specific width in mind to facilitate effective airborne electromagnetic surveying, aiming to uncover geophysical conductors that previous explorations may have missed.

ALX is in the process of obtaining an exploration permit for the Blackbird Project.

The planned activities include airborne and ground geophysical surveying, along with a reconnaissance programme of ground prospecting, geological mapping and geochemical sampling scheduled for the summer and fall of 2024.

ALX chairman and CEO Warren Stanyer said: “A discovery of gold mineralisation at depth in a district historically known for base metals and PGMs [Platinum Group Metals] is another example of the exploration opportunities that exist in Saskatchewan.

“A modern airborne electromagnetic survey detected a geophysical conductor at depth that was unknown to previous explorers and it was found to be mineralised.

“This emerging gold discovery by Ramp Metals creates significant mineral potential for an area of Saskatchewan that was largely ignored by exploration companies and validates the application of modern exploration methods in a greenfield terrain.”
