Here are the ten largest surface and underground mining projects by production in North America in 2020, according to GlobalData’s mining database.

1. Cortez Mine

The Cortez Mine is a gold mining project in Nevada, United States. The brownfield project is owned by Barrick Gold and is due to operate until 2031. The mine produced an estimated 20.325Mt of ROM in 2020. It had an estimated production of 799 thousand ounces of gold in 2020.

2. Carlin Mine

The Carlin Mine is a gold mine owned by Barrick Gold. Located in Nevada, United States, the brownfield mine produced approximately 15.026Mt of ROM in 2020. It had an estimated production of 1,665 thousand ounces of gold in 2020. The expected mine closure date is 2032.

3. Rainy River Gold Project
