Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 37.68% in August 2022, a 23.81% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 26.09% in August 2022, marking a 10% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 20.29% in August 2022, a 75% rise from July 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 457.14% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s mining industry during August 2022 over previous month.
Fortescue Metals Group posted 10 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered an increase of 66.67% over the previous month, followed by PT Golden Energy Mines with 9 jobs and a flat growth. Newcrest Mining with 7 IT jobs and Evolution Mining with 7 jobs, recorded a 600% rise and a flat growth, respectively, while BlueScope Steel recorded a flat growth with 6 job postings during August 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s mining industry
Australia commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 63.77% share in August 2022, a 41.94% increase over July 2022. Indonesia featured next with a 15.94% share, flat growth over the previous month. New Zealand recorded a 7.25% share, a flat growth compared with July 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 86.96%, up by 87.5% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 13.04% share, registered a decline of 55% compared with the previous month.
