Sulzer designs and manufactures pumps and agitators. Sulzer’s products are recognised for their quality and reliability, and they are essential to a wide range of applications in the metals and mining industries.
The company’s proactive research and development into fluid dynamics, process-oriented products and special materials supports its customer-focused approach. Industry experience, detailed knowledge of metals and mining applications and an understanding of customer needs has enabled Sulzer to develop innovative and sustainable pumping solutions.
Sulzer supplies complete pump and agitation packages for the mining and metal industries, from clear liquid and light slurry processes, to submersible and dewatering pumps. All pump packages include customer service and support. Sulzer’s comprehensive portfolio of innovative pumps and agitators is designed in accordance with the latest standards issued by ISO, API and ANSI.
The combination of top-quality materials and tailor-made hydraulics ensures that the customer receives a reliable pump process and maintenance-free operation.
Sulzer offers pumping and mixing solutions for corrosive and abrasive liquids, and coating solutions to protect machinery from the high temperatures and wear of metal processing. The company’s expertise includes the production of alumina, aluminium, copper, nickel and zinc.
Research and development is a priority for Sulzer. The company works closely with its customers to develop pumps and mixers that fit their operations. Sulzer’s foundry and metallurgical knowledge are key to its development of equipment with a strong resistance to corrosion and wear.
Sulzer produces various grades of corrosion-resistant cast alloy steels, martensitic, austenitic and duplex. Pumps can be manufactured from special materials like titanium and Hastelloy, and also AVESTA 654 SMO* material, for the most corrosive applications.
*AVESTA 654SMO is a trademark owned by Outokumpu Stainless, which has granted Sulzer a licence to produce this material.
Selecting the best pump system for the job can significantly boost the efficiency of an operation and Sulzer can help customers do that. Sulzer’s existing customers have gained from improved reliability of their process-runs and some have changed from stand-by pump practices to single pump systems.

Our customer-focused R&D and continuous research on new material options enable us to develop equipment with a strong resistance to corrosion and wear.
Sulzer has once again broken the conventions in the name of efficiency. The new CPE ANSI process pumps are specifically designed to exceed the strictest energy regulations for all industries as well as the requirements of ASME B73.1. With revolutionary hydraulics and high efficiency, they offer low lifecycle costs.
Sulzer acknowledges that the US Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control has identified Mr V Vekselberg and Renova Group, Moscow, as specially designated nationals pursuant to US sanctions rules effective on 6 April 2018.
In 2017, order intake grew by 2% organically and 12%, including acquisitions. Sales increased by 5% on acquisitions but declined organically because of a low order backlog entering the year.
Sulzer announces that it has completed the acquisition of JWC Environmental (JWC).
The new SIL pump range was developed to meet the process requirements in various general and industrial applications. It is designed for clean liquid processes, using Sulzer‘s long experience and in-depth pumping technology knowledge.
Sulzer and Ensival Moret have joined forces to solve your pumping and mixing challenges. Our leading portfolios are now combined in one powerful offering, creating a full line of pumping and mixing solutions for a wide range of industries and process applications.
In the first quarter of 2017, Sulzer achieved an order intake of Sfr757.6m compared with Sfr684.6m in the same period of the previous year. Adjusted for currency effects, the growth rate was 11.1%. Adjusted for currency and acquisition effects, orders grew by 2.0%. Order intake increased in all divisions with the exception of Chemtech.
Sulzer announces that it has completed the acquisition of Ensival Moret (EM), a part of Moret Industries. Sulzer will immediately start to integrate EM in its pumps equipment division. Combining the complementary product portfolios enables Sulzer to become a full line supplier in most industrial process applications.
Sulzer has entered into discussions to acquire pump manufacturer Ensival Moret (EM) with Moret Industries. The enterprise value for the proposed transaction is €80m (Sfr85m).
The ideal product for a wide range of high-volume flow applications is the SMD range, which pumps raw, clean, sea, or brackish water.
The new, efficient standard axially split casing SMD pump is Sulzer's flagship product portfolio for the water marketplace.
Order intake from the general, power and water sectors has improved, while headwinds in the oil and gas market have remained significant.
Sulzer's have developed a pump series for the pumping and recirculation of activated sludge in wastewater treatment plants during the nitrification and denitrification process. It also facilitates the pumping of storm, surface and river water. It complements the submersible recirculation pump series ABS RCP.
Sulzer's order intake and sales decreased in 2015, but strong growth in the power sector offset some of the reduced activity in oil and gas. Order intake gross margin improved on a currency-adjusted basis.
The Sulzer board of directors has appointed Greg Poux-Guillaume, president and CEO of Alstom Grid, as their new CEO, effective December 1, 2015.
