Mining Project Evaluation
SRK’s experienced personnel and practical approach give you achievable options, opinions and solutions together with an understanding of the associated risks.
SRK Consulting is an independent, international consulting practice providing focused advice and solutions to the earth and water resource industries. For mining projects, we offer services from exploration to mine closure.
Established in 1974, SRK employs more than 1,400 professionals internationally in over 45 offices on six continents.
We employ leading mining consultants, geotechnical consultants and career geologists. Our integrated services and global presence have made the company a leading international practice in due diligence, mining feasibility studies, mine waste management and mine closure.
Our geological services include structural interpretations to establish controls on mineralization, geological modeling, remote sensing, geophysical data interpretation and exploration program management.
We prepare resource models, based on a sound understanding of the underlying geology for mining feasibility studies, operating mines and evaluations. Our geostatistical experts apply the most appropriate methods, ensuring that geological and geometric controls are considered throughout the estimation process.
For independent reporting, we have “qualified persons” in many jurisdictions to facilitate reporting in accordance with the CNI 43-101, JORC and other applicable codes.
SRK employs experienced mining consultants, geotechnical consultants and career geologists with a strong operational background. We offer mining consultancy services for due diligence audits, technical reports, scoping studies, and mining pre-feasibility studies and mining feasibility studies compliant with relevant standards.
Our services include mine designs, layouts, production scheduling and equipment selection. We use a range of software including AutoCAD, Gemcom, Whittle, Vulcan, MineSight and Mine2-4D.
Our mining consultants, geotechnical consultants and career geologists have extensive experience in both underground and open-pit rock engineering for projects involving precious and base metals, diamonds and industrial minerals. By combining expertise in rock mechanics with an understanding of the mining business, we provide practical advice to reduce project risks.
SRK Consulting is extensively involved in permitting, design, operation and closure of mine tailings, waste rock and associated water disposal/management facilities. Our experience includes a wide range of mine waste products, extensive geochemical knowledge, hands-on knowledge of proven management techniques and a broad range of climates and seismic regimes. We provide management solutions that can be practically implemented and successfully completed.
Ore placement and solution management greatly influence the design and layout of earthworks for heap leach facilities. Our approach is to assess and optimize earthwork and lining requirements based on the topographic and geotechnical characteristics of the site, the engineering characteristics of the ore, and the project’s environmental objectives.
Our design teams provide comprehensive services for tailings, heap leach and waste facilities. These include site selection, geotechnical and geochemical investigations, construction-level design, specification and bid document preparation, and construction quality control/quality assurance (QC/QA).
SRK’s practical experience with a range of mining facilities – in cold, wet and arid climates on all continents – assures that we identify critical environmental issues on your project. We create risk-based frameworks to facilitate decision making for project acquisition, permitting, operation and closure.
Our water professionals can assist with mine water management, water supply and water quality strategies. We regularly develop solutions to mine drainage issues – ranging from severe acidity to unusual trace elements – for new mine permitting, optimization of existing operations and closure plans.
We have worked with clients to develop closure plans at all stages of the mine life cycle, and have successfully implemented these plans at many properties.
