Australia’s leading road maintenance truck supplier was pleased to hear the road to Jenolan Caves in the Blue Mountains reopened in May, after being closed since March due to rain-damaged roads.
Transport for NSW called on AUSROAD to use their custom-designed Jetmaster road maintenance trucks to assist with urgent road repair work on the road damaged by torrential rain.
The challenging repair work was done on a secondary access road to Jenolan Caves which are part of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area.
The rain event caused slippage and breakaway of the main access route to the caves resulting in closure pending major upgrades.
The secondary road had also suffered from washouts and deterioration but was repairable.
Transport for NSW quickly identified that an Ausroad Jetmaster unit would save time, assisting in edge sealing and surface repairs over large areas of road to prevent further damage occurring as larger repairs were addressed.
There is limited access on this road, so AUSROAD’S operator safely maintained access on the narrow steep winding section for other essential repair workers and vehicles.
The repair was successfully and safely completed. The secondary road will now become the primary route to allow emergency services, staff and visitor access to the caves.
