The company distributes and adds value to carbon steel coil, sheet and plate and structural profiles. Robor is one of the largest steel tube and pipe manufacturers in Southern Africa, and as such is active in a broad range of industries, including mining, manufacturing, transport (rail and road), engineering, construction, energy, agriculture, water, and the automotive sector. Robor supplies a range of cold formed steel profiles, mechanical and structural tubing for conveyor idlers, mine support props, and flanged items for different varieties of conveyance applications.
The company offers hot and cold formed products, shaft buntons and guides, high-pressure couplings, welded and seamless pipe, for use in high-pressure conveyance applications.
All products are South African National Standards (SANS) approved, and include high-density polyethylene (HDPE)-lined Steel Polypipe, Powercrete epoxy coatings, various pipe joining systems, large bore flanged pipe, hydro polypipe, rubber-linings, screwed and socketed pipe, and a range of flanged electric resistance welded (ERW) pipe for use as shaft columns.
Cold rolled profiles
Cold rolled profiles suitable for light framed structures of mine buildings, palisade pales for security fencing and conveyor structures.
Conveyance / piping systems
The company manufactures hot rolled ERW small bore pipe material suitable for conveyance of water, steam, air and gas. Steel grades are SAE1008, S355, with a size range from 15NB – 200NB, and thicknesses of ultra-light, light, medium and heavy.
Surface protections offered are un-coated / self-colour, hot dipped galvanised, painted, wrapped, bitumen dipped, TOSAwrap, TOSAtape and epoxy coated. End finishes are plain-ended square cut or beveled), flanged, screwed and socketed, grooved (cut or rolled), ring-ended or stub-ended, and flared and threaded.
High-pressure conveyance pipe
Robor offers high-pressure conveyance pipe, backfill pipe and cooling water cladded solutions, deep mining hydro piping and shaft columns in steel grades ASTM A106 Grade B and API 5L.
These products include high-pressure pipe systems with related ancillary products. The size range and wall thicknesses are 20NB to 600NB and schedule 40 to XXS, with pressure ratings of up to 370bar. Surface protections offered are galvanised, painted or uncoated, with end finishing that includes plain-ends, stub-ends, and flanged. Specifications and standards are in accordance with customer design specifications.
Steel-Polypipe (HDPE lined)
Steel Polypipe comes in steel grades of SAE1008, S235, S275, S355, with a size range from 100NB – 600NB and wall thicknesses of 3.2mm to 6.0mm. The internal lining is an HDPE lining, with a thickness from 5.0mm to 20.0mm. Specifications and standards are SANS 62, SANS 719. Robor also has the capability to offer HDPE in-situ lining of new and used steel pipe.
Hot rolled ERW longitudinal and LSAW / SSAW
Hot rolled ERW longitudinal pipes, longitudinal submerged arc welded (LSAW) / spiral submerged arc welded (SSAW) are offered in steel grades SAE1008, S235, S275 and S355. The size range is from 200NB – 700NB and wall thicknesses from 3.0mm to 10.0mm.
The company can offer surface protection of uncoated / self-colour, hot dipped galvanised, bitumen dipped, covalence, TOSAwrap, TOSAtape and Polychem. End finishings of flanged, coupled, shouldered, stub-ends, ring-ends or plain-ends are available. Specifications and standards are to SANS 719.
Ductile iron pipe and fittings
Ductile iron pipes are offered in steel grades of C class and K class, with a size range of 80NB – 2,200NB. Surface protection offered is epoxy and polyurethane, with end finishings of tyton joint (bell end) and spigot, flanged and butt welded. Internal coatings are offered i.e. cement mortar lining. Specifications and standards are ISO 2531, BS EN 545, BS EN 598.
Value add services
Value added services include cut-to-size, square end cutting, bending (tube, sheet and plate), slitting, guillotining, punching, drilling and chamfering.
Cutting services include laser, profile and high definition plasma. Robor can also offer welding including robotic, submerged arc and stick, along with swaging, beveling, internal scarfing, light fabrication and shot blasting. The company offers a range of pipe fittings and finishings that includes screwed and socketed, flared and threaded, flanged, grooved, and shouldered.
