North America’s leading tunnelling conference RETC 2019 returns to Chicago, US, this month for the bi-annual underground construction event.
Taking place at the Hyatt Regency hotel from 16-19 June, the Rapid Excavation and Tunnelling Conference offers industry leaders and practitioners the chance to connect with a diverse, global audience.

The event programme includes specialist speakers, access to actionable data and insights, and more than 180 exhibitors showcasing the latest in specialist technology. Networking opportunities and technical tours will also be available.
Carroll Technologies Group, North America’s leading supplier of safety services and equipment to the mining and tunnelling industries, will be attending the event. Sales account manager Josh Johnson said: “Carroll Technologies Group represents a wide range of products that are used not only in the mining sector, but also in tunnelling and construction. A lot of the same products cross over to both industries, for example, gas detection, ventilation curtains/tubing, self-rescuers, communications, and many more.
“Currently we service a number of tunnelling projects but attending a show of this magnitude will allow us the opportunity to reach a greater number of potential customers. We will have a vendor table set up displaying some of our key products and will also be giving away several prizes over the course of the event.”
Industry insights from around the world
This will be the second visit to Chicago for the RETC, which held its 2006 conference at the city’s Palmer House Hilton. Last year’s event, which took place in San Francisco, drew more than 1,400 guests.
Conference organisers said: “Every two years, industry leaders and practitioners from around the world gather at the RETC, the authoritative programme for the tunnelling profession, to learn about the most recent advances and breakthroughs in this unique field.
