Spartan Metals has secured permission from the US Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to add seven drill pads at its Tungstonia Claims, part of the Eagle Tungsten-Silver-Rubidium Project in Nevada’s White Pine County.
With this latest approval, the exploration and development company has authorisation for 32 drill sites on the property.
The sites selected for the expanded programme were based on data from magnetotelluric (MT) and direct-current induced polarisation (DCIP) surveys.
Some of the new drill pads have been planned to allow multiple holes to be drilled at different angles and directions from a single site. This approach aims to gather more subsurface data while minimising extra disruption to the surface.
The additional locations are intended to target depth extensions of five separate vein systems, as well as the Spartan A, B and C vein complex. They will also test a south-east tungsten anomaly and areas identified as possible carbonate replacement and skarn targets.
These locations were chosen where geophysical anomalies, mapped structural features, quartz-vein and greisen development, and surface geochemistry align.
The company noted that geophysical anomalies require confirmation by drilling and do not provide direct evidence of mineralisation.
Around 550m of a planned 3,000m core drilling programme has currently been completed at the Eagle project.
The drilling is ongoing, and Spartan Metals intends to move operations to the newly approved sites to test areas identified as having high potential through geological and geochemical studies.
Spartan president and CEO Brett Marsh said: “When we permitted the original sites at Tungstonia we were working from mapping, surface geochemistry and the legacy workings.
“The geophysical results enhanced our geological interpretation of the system beneath those workings and throughout the Tungstonia Claims, and it identified new, high-priority targets. This Notice modification gives us the sites, and the flexibility lets us drill where our data interpretation gives us the best chance for success.”
In June 2026, Spartan confirmed the presence of two tungsten skarn zones at the Tungstonia claims within the Eagle project.
