Alkane discovers new gold zones at Australia’s Tomingley Operations

The company is conducting underground drilling at the Roswell Deposit and El Paso prospect to expand resources at the Tomingley site.

Alkane Resources has reported significant findings from its recent exploration activities at the Tomingley Gold Operations in New South Wales (NSW), Australia.

The company has been conducting underground drilling to support the expansion of resources at the site, particularly focusing on the Roswell Deposit and nearby prospects such as El Paso.

Operational since 2014, the Tomingley Gold Mine comprises both open-pit and underground mining with a processing facility capable of handling one million tonnes per annum.

The site is located near Tomingley village, around 50km south-west of Dubbo in central-west NSW and is managed by Tomingley Gold Operations, a subsidiary of Alkane Resources.

Recent drilling efforts have concentrated on a seismic reflector beneath the Roswell Deposit.

One previously drilled hole, RWD061, was extended to a depth of 1,392m, revealing gold-arsenic-enriched hydrothermal breccias and veining.

This exploration targets underground resources outside grade control to bolster confidence in the inferred resources category.

The Roswell underground resources are estimated at 5.5 million tonnes (mt) with a grading of 2.6 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, which corresponds to an endowment of approximately 476,000oz of gold.

A recent drilling programme aimed at the Western Monzodiorite domain within Roswell completed 21 drill-holes over 4,019m, confirming multiple zones of high-grade gold.

In addition, exploration drilling at the El Paso and Westray prospects involved seven diamond core drill-holes and one reverse circulation drill-hole.

These activities intersected quartz veining accompanied by gold-arsenic mineralisation within the Mingelo Volcanic stratigraphy.

The assay highlights from various drilling activities have revealed significant results.

At the Roswell seismic target, hole RWD061 showed 8.7m grading 1.15g/t gold, including 3m at 2.78g/t, along with intervals of 0.3m at 11.4g/t and 2m at 5.90g/t.

In the Roswell Western Monzodiorite underground drilling, hole ROSUG657D intercepted 5.9m grading 31g/t, with a segment of 2.1m at 78.4g/t, while hole ROSUG644D showed 17.4m grading 4.30g/t, including 2.5m at 21.1g/t.

At the El Paso prospect, drill-hole EPD020 recorded an intersection of 17m grading 4.02g/t, with a high-grade section of 0.5m at 77.5g/t and an additional interval of 8m at 2.10g/t.

Alkane managing director and CEO Nic Earner said: “Our continuing exploration at Tomingley reveals both extensions to our deposits, which remain open at depth and along strike, as well as new areas of mineralisation.

“This drilling demonstrates the significant resource expansion potential across the mine site; we look forward to revealing this potential, both near mine and regionally around Tomingley.”

In August 2025, the Supreme Court of British Columbia granted a final order approving the plan of arrangement for Alkane Resources to acquire all issued and outstanding common shares of Mandalay Resources.
