GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company, has revealed its league tables for the top ten legal advisers by value and volume in the metals and mining sector for 2022.

Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison and Fasken Martineau DuMoulin emerged as the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) legal advisers in the metals & mining sector in 2022 by deal value and volume, respectively.

Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison advised on $10bn worth of deals while Fasken Martineau DuMoulin advised on a total of 15 deals.

GlobalData lead analyst Aurojyoti Bose said: “Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, despite advising on only two deals, was the only adviser to touch the $10bn mark in total value. Interestingly, Fasken Martineau DuMoulin, which occupied the top spot by volume, also managed to occupy the second spot by value.”

According to the financial deals database of GlobalData, the other high rankers by value included Cassels Brock & Blackwell taking the third position with $8.4bn worth of deals; followed by Linklaters with $6.7bn; and Webber Wentzel with $6.7bn.

In terms of volume, Blake Cassels & Graydon with 11 deals took second place, followed by Cassels Brock & Blackwell with ten deals, Dorsey & Whitney with five deals, and McCarthy Tetrault with four deals.
