PMET Resources has signed a letter of intent (LoI) with the City of Matagami in Quebec, Canada, covering the trans-shipment of spodumene concentrate for the Shaakichiuwaanaan Project.
The proposed arrangement would see concentrate transported by truck from the mining site to Matagami’s trans-shipment yard, where it would then be loaded onto rail for shipping to port.

The LoI sets out a framework for the infrastructure improvements and operational services needed to establish this logistics route.
According to PMET, it represents a step forward in developing the project’s transportation network and supporting infrastructure.
The terms outlined in the LoI provide principles for cooperation on facility upgrades and the ongoing trans-shipment operations.
PMET and the City of Matagami plan to negotiate a definitive commercial agreement prior to PMET issuing a final investment decision for the Shaakichiuwaanaan Project.
Details regarding infrastructure investments, service fees and precise operational responsibilities will be addressed in future discussions.
PMET chief operating officer Frédéric Mercier-Langevin said: “The LoI with Matagami marks another tangible step in advancing the infrastructure required to support the development of Shaakichiuwaanaan.
“Trans-shipment at Matagami is expected to provide a key link in our planned logistics chain, connecting concentrate trucked from the project to onward rail transportation.
“We look forward to working closely with the City of Matagami to progress the required infrastructure and commercial upgrades as we continue to advance Shaakichiuwaanaan towards a final investment decision.”
PMET operates as a pegmatite critical mineral exploration and development company.
The Shaakichiuwaanaan Property, wholly owned by PMET, is located in the Eeyou Istchee James Bay region of Quebec.
The site offers year-round access via all-season roads and is located near regional hydropower facilities.
