RCR Tomlinson has received an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract from Fortescue Metals Group for the Solomon iron ore project in Western Australia.

Under the $600m contract, RCR will provide engineering, procurement, construction and pre-commissioning of Kings Ore and Firetail processing facilities at the Solomon Mine.

RCR will also carry out structural, mechanical, piping and electrical works.

RCR Tomlinson managing director Paul Dalgleish said that the contract follows the recent receipt $30m order for apron feeders and belt feeders by FMG for the Solomon project.

The work is scheduled to be completed in December 2012.
