Bharat Coking Coal has awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract worth INR4.22bn ($79m) to Madhucon Projects for an Indian coal project.

The work will include surface mining, extraction and transportation of coal from patch A and patch B of the Phularitand Colliery of the Barora area in Dhanbad district of Jharkhand, India.

The project is expected to be completed in seven years from the date of acceptance.

Madhucon Projects’ Indonesian subsidiary, Madhucon Indonesia, has received clearance for jetty construction and is expecting to start coal production in January or February of 2012.
