UK-based Goldplat has received a 21-year mining lease for its Kilimpesa gold mine from the Kenyan Minister for Environment and Mineral Resource.
The Kilimapesa gold mine is located in the Migori Archaean Greenstone belt in western Kenya .
According to the current JORC-compliant resource, the mine has 1.65Mt at 2.44g/t Au for 129,000oz of gold at a cut-off grade of 1g/t of gold for all categories.
Currently, the firm is carrying out exploratory underground development at the mine, with two auriferous quartz veins being extended on strike to the east.
Goldplat CEO Demetri Manolis said that the firm will further increase the mine’s development and the construction of the elution plant, which will enable it to produce gold bullion on site in the near future.
