Four miners remain trapped and 13 others are still missing after a gypsum mine collapsed ten days ago in Shandong, China.

A rock fall at the mine on Christmas Day is believed to have caused the accident while 29 people were working inside.

According to media reports, the rock fall was so powerful that it triggered a seismic activity with a magnitude of 4.0 near the site.

Rescuers pulled 11 workers to safety while one person has died in the accident. They are still to make contact with other miners believed to have been trapped 220m underground.

Rescue workers sent food and other essentials to the trapped miners by drilling a relief hole. However, frequent rock falls at the mine site and sudden in-flow of water hindered the rescue operation.
