The company is yet to reach a definitive timeline in terms of power restoration at the site as the suppliers assess the full extent of damage to their transmission networks.

"All employees are safe and no major safety issues have occurred at either Prominent Hill or at any other OZ Minerals sites."

The Prominent Hill site has not suffered any damage and is catered to by power supplied from generators for all its essential services.

The site will continue experiencing high winds for some time according to forecasts.

Located in northern South Australia, Prominent Hill is a copper-gold mining operation. It consists of the Malu open pit mine, Ankata underground mine and Malu underground mine.

The Prominent Hill site has been operational since 2009 and produces more than 100,000t of copper annually.
