Delta SBD has been awarded a drivage development contract by Whitehaven Coal for its Narrabri mine in New South Wales, Australia.
Under the contract, Delta SBD will provide supplementary labour hire, two loaders and two personnel transporters for control and operation of the Narrabri twin miner development panel.
The contract will commence this month and will increase Delta SBD’s development units from four to six for 2012.
Currently, the firm operates three development units for BHP Billiton at Appin and one for Boral at Berrima.
Delta SBD’s CEO Stephen Bizzaca said that the development project will demonstrate the firm’s strong capability in this type of work and enable diversification across a number of key underground activities.
