Southeastern Mine Conference – 31 Oct 2018
The conference will be held at the Ross Bridge Convention Center in Birmingham, Alabama over three days, from 31 October to 2 November, and will promote the theme of ‘developing a safety culture’. Two awards, the 40 Year Safe Miner Award and the Hero Award, will also be presented at the event, which recognise 40 years of injury-free work in the southeastern mining sector and an individual’s acts of bravery in protecting others from injury, respectively.
Speakers at the event include Mark Nutsch, who led a team of Green Berets on a covert mission to Afghanistan in 2001, and safety consultant Candace Carnahan. The event also features a golf tournament, held on 30 October, and a charity dinner on the second night of the conference in aid of the ASSP student scholarship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and the Dr Martha Bidez Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Carroll will be at booth number 13 in the convention centre.

This year’s expo, organised by the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association, will be held in the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis from 12-14 February 2019. Carroll will be at booth number 39,114 at the event, which will take place alongside the World of Asphalt Show and Conference, and offering managers, operators and buyers the chance to see the latest technologies and innovations in aggregates services.
Some of the industry’s biggest companies will attend the expo, including Caterpillar, Volvo, the Wirtgen Group and Sandvik. The event also offers industry-leading educational services, including interactive exhibits and classes that can be paid for in advance. There are four academy tracks available at the expo: operations and production; automation, technology and software; business management and leadership; and environment, safety and health.
SME Minnesota Conference – 15 April 2019
The 92nd annual meeting of the Minnesota branch of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME) will be held at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center from 15-17 April 2019. This year’s edition of the conference took place this week, concluding on 3 October, and featured a field trip on the second and final day. The speakers and agenda for next year’s event have yet to be announced, but Carroll aims to have a presence at one of the oldest conferences in the state’s iron ore industry.

Rapid Excavation and Tunneling Conference – 16 June 2019
This bi-annual event will take place in Chicago, Illinois from 16-19 June 2019, and will feature Carroll Technologies at booth number 1,215. The Case Foundation described the event as “the authoritative programme for the tunnelling profession”, and previous editions of the conference have covered topics as varied as new technologies, uses of materials, financial considerations and design challenges.
Carroll also plans to attend mine safety events in 2019, as it did earlier this year, and will announce its schedule in the future.
