Five largest iron ore mines in Kazakhstan in 2020

Here are the five largest iron ore mines by production in Kazakhstan, according to GlobalData’s mining database.

1. Sokolovsky Mine

The Sokolovsky Mine is a surface and underground mine located in Kostanay. It is owned by Eurasian Resources Group and produced an estimated 7.521 MTPA of iron ore in 2020. The mine will operate until 2038.

2. Kacharsky Mine

Located in Kostanay, the Kacharsky Mine is owned by Eurasian Resources Group. The surface mine produced an estimated 6.856 MTPA of iron ore in 2020. The mine will operate until 2038.

3. Sarbaisky Iron Ore Mine

The Sarbaisky Iron Ore Mine is located in Kostanay. It is owned by Eurasian Resources Group and produced an estimated 6.418 MTPA of iron ore in 2020. The mine will operate until 2038.

4. Korzhinkolskoye Mine

The Korzhinkolskoye Mine, owned by Eurasian Resources Group, is a surface mine located in Kostanay. The mine produced an estimated 2.001 MTPA of iron ore in 2020. The mine will operate until 2038.

5. Atasu Mine

Owned by ArcelorMittal, the Atasu Mine is an underground mine located in Karagandy. It produced an estimated 1.3 MTPA of iron ore in 2020. The mine will operate until 2029.
