The US’s mining industry registered a 5.0% rise in IT hiring activity in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 6.17% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.

Out of the mining industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.75% share in September 2021, recording an increase of 0.03% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the US’s mining industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 96.26% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s mining industry in September 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 32.71% in September 2021, registering a 35.19% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 27.1% share, an increase of 38.1% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 16.82%, registering a 20% rise from August 2021.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 11.21%, up 71.43% over the previous month.

Top five mining companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 31.71% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s mining industry during September 2021 over August 2021.

Nucor posted 26 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a rise of 100% over the previous month, followed by RTI International Metals with 10 jobs and a 41.18% drop. Newcrest Mining with 7 IT jobs and Mueller Industries with 6 jobs, recorded a 40% flat growth and a 20% flat growth, respectively, while En+ Group recorded an increase of 400% with 5 job postings during September 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 56.07%, up by 13.21% from August 2021. Entry Level positions with a 22.43% share, registered an increase of 41.18% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 21.5% share, down 43.9% over August 2021.
