US mining industry IT recruitment activity rises 0.8% in August 2022

The US’s mining industry registered a 0.8% rise in IT hiring activity in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 2.99% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.

Out of the mining industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 2.9% share in August 2022, recording an increase of 0.29% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the US’s mining industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 95.54% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s mining industry in August 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 34.82% in August 2022, registering a 44.44% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 33.04% share, a decrease of 17.78% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 14.29%, registering a 6.67% rise from July 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 8.04%, down 18.18% over the previous month.

Top five mining companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 7.41% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s mining industry during August 2022 over July 2022.

Freeport-McMoRan posted 16 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a drop of 5.88% over the previous month, followed by Nucor with 14 jobs and a 7.69% growth. Aditya Birla Management Corp with 11 IT jobs and RTI International Metals with 10 jobs, recorded an 8.33% decline and an 11.11% growth, respectively, while ATI recorded an increase of 133.33% with 7 job postings during August 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 54.46%, down by 17.57% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 29.46% share, registered an increase of 94.12% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 14.29% share, up 6.67% over July 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 1.79%, recording a month-on-month increase of 100%.
