The US’s mining industry registered a 5.8% drop in IT hiring activity in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 4.02% in October 2022 when compared with September 2022.
Out of the mining industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 2.86% share in October 2022, recording a decrease of 0.1% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the US’s mining industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 96.51% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s mining industry in October 2022.
1) Database and Network Administrators and Architects recorded a share of 30.23% in October 2022, registering an 18.18% growth over the previous month.
2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 27.91% share, a decrease of 29.41% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 16.28%, registering a 22.22% decline from September 2022.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 11.63%, flat growth over the previous month.
Top five mining companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 27.59% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s mining industry during October 2022 over September 2022.
RTI International Metals posted 13 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a rise of 44.44% over the previous month, followed by Freeport-McMoRan with 11 jobs and a 120% growth. Commercial Metals with 5 IT jobs and Nucor with 4 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 20% decrease, respectively, while Aditya Birla Management Corp recorded a decline of 60% with 4 job postings during October 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 54.65%, down by 16.07% from September 2022. Mid Level positions with a 31.4% share, registered an increase of 22.73% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 13.95% share, down 33.33% over September 2022.
