Top five mining companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 44.44% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s mining industry during May 2022 over previous month.

Teck Resources posted 21 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered an increase of 162.5% over the previous month, followed by Teck Coal with 15 jobs and a 7.14% growth. RTI International Metals with 11 IT jobs and Freeport-McMoRan with 11 jobs, recorded an 8.33% drop and a 37.5% rise, respectively, while ArcelorMittal recorded a 133.33% increase with 7 job postings during May 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s mining industry

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 51.82% share in May 2022, a 22.97% decrease over April 2022. Canada featured next with a 46.36% share, up 24.39% over the previous month. France recorded a 0.91% share, a flat growth compared with April 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 69.09%, up by 18.75% from April 2022. Entry Level positions with a 20% share, registered a growth of 4.76% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 10.91% share, down 60% over April 2022.
