October 2021 has seen an increase of 3.74% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 4.04% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2021, registering an increase of 0.3% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 55.22% in October 2021, a 68.18% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 13.43% in October 2021, marking an 18.18% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 12.69% in October 2021, a 45.16% drop from September 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 32.2% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s mining industry during October 2021 over previous month.
Nucor posted 31 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered an increase of 19.23% over the previous month, followed by RTI International Metals with 25 jobs and a 150% growth. Freeport-McMoRan with 9 IT jobs and Aditya Birla Management Corp with 7 jobs, recorded an 80% rise and a 46.15% drop, respectively, while Freeport-McMoRan recorded a 20% increase with 6 job postings during October 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s mining industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with an 86.57% share in October 2021, an 8.41% increase over September 2021. Canada featured next with a 12.69% share, down 22.73% over the previous month. France recorded a 0.75% share, a flat growth compared with September 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 51.49%, down by 5.48% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 33.58% share, registered a growth of 55.17% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 14.93% share, down 28.57% over September 2021.
