Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 34.62% in August 2022, a 35% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 32.05% in August 2022, marking a 1.96% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 14.74% in August 2022, a 15% rise from July 2022.

Top five mining companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 7.41% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s mining industry during August 2022 over previous month.
Freeport-McMoRan posted 16 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a decline of 5.88% over the previous month, followed by Nucor with 14 jobs and a 7.69% growth. Aditya Birla Management Corp with 11 IT jobs and RTI International Metals with 10 jobs, recorded an 8.33% drop and an 11.11% rise, respectively, while ATI recorded a 133.33% increase with 7 job postings during August 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s mining industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 71.79% share in August 2022, a 4.67% increase over July 2022. Canada featured next with a 27.56% share, up 30.3% over the previous month. France recorded a 0.64% share, a flat growth compared with July 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 59.62%, up by 3.33% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 26.92% share, registered a growth of 40% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.18% share, down 5% over July 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 1.28%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
