North America witnessed a 1.8% drop in IT hiring activity in the mining industry in June 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
June 2022 has seen a decrease of 8.83% in the overall hiring activity when compared with May 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 3.26% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in June 2022, registering an increase of 0.33% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in June 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 32.84% in June 2022, a 21.43% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 30.6% in June 2022, marking a 10.87% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 17.16% in June 2022, a 15% rise from May 2022.
Computer Support Specialists registered a share of 10.45% in June 2022, a 7.69% rise over the previous month.
Top five mining companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 33.33% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s mining industry during June 2022 over previous month.
Aditya Birla Management Corp posted 18 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered an increase of 260% over the previous month, followed by Teck Coal with 15 jobs and a flat growth. RTI International Metals with 14 IT jobs and Freeport-McMoRan with 13 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 13.33% drop, respectively, while Mueller Industries recorded a 300% increase with 8 job postings during June 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s mining industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 71.64% share in June 2022, a 6.67% increase over May 2022. Canada featured next with a 27.61% share, down 45.59% over the previous month. France recorded a 0.75% share, a flat growth compared with May 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 55.22%, down by 26.73% from May 2022. Mid Level positions with a 26.12% share, registered a growth of 12.9% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 17.16% share, down 20.69% over May 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 1.49%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
