October 2021 has seen a decrease of 14.97% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 5.73% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2021, registering an increase of 0.33% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 51.85% in October 2021, a 16% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 22.22% in October 2021, marking a 53.85% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 12.35% in October 2021, a 41.18% drop from September 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 38.98% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s mining industry during October 2021 over previous month.

ThyssenKrupp posted 33 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a decline of 10.81% over the previous month, followed by Polyus with 19 jobs and a 65.45% drop. Anglo American with 9 IT jobs and En++ Group with 8 jobs, recorded an 80% rise and a 60% drop, respectively, while Voestalpine recorded a 200% increase with 3 job postings during October 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s mining industry

Russia commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 34.57% share in October 2021, a 65.43% decrease over September 2021. Germany featured next with a 23.46% share, down 20.83% over the previous month. The UK recorded a 12.35% share, a growth of 42.86% compared with September 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 80.25%, down by 41.96% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with an 11.11% share, registered a growth of 50% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 8.64% share, down 36.36% over September 2021.
