April 2022 has seen a decrease of 5.51% in the overall hiring activity when compared with March 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 4.2% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in April 2022, registering a decrease of 0.92% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in April 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 41.82% in April 2022, a 39.47% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 20% in April 2022, marking a 38.89% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 18.18% in April 2022, a 42.86% rise from March 2022.

Top five mining companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in April 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 30.36% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s mining industry during April 2022 over previous month.

Anglo American posted 12 IT jobs in April 2022 and registered an increase of 71.43% over the previous month, followed by ArcelorMittal with 8 jobs and a 300% growth. ThyssenKrupp with 8 IT jobs and Rio Tinto with 6 jobs, recorded a 71.43% drop and a 33.33% drop, respectively, while Voestalpine recorded a 50% decline with 5 job postings during April 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s mining industry

The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s mining industry IT hiring activity with a 36.36% share in April 2022, a 17.65% increase over March 2022. Germany featured next with an 18.18% share, down 61.54% over the previous month. Albania recorded a 9.09% share, a growth of 150% compared with March 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in April 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 69.09%, down by 24% from March 2022. Mid Level positions with a 20% share, registered a decline of 8.33% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 10.91% share, down 50% over March 2022.
