Canada’s mining industry registered a 2.1% rise in IT hiring activity in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 9.38% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.
Out of the mining industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 6.11% share in August 2022, recording an increase of 0.63% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada’s mining industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s mining industry in August 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 34.88% in August 2022, registering a 15.38% growth over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 30.23% share, an increase of 225% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 16.28%, registering a 40% rise from July 2022.
4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 11.63%, down 44.44% over the previous month.
Top five mining companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 93.75% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s mining industry during August 2022 over July 2022.
Vale posted 7 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by Teck Coal with 7 jobs and a 50% drop. EVRAZ North America with 6 IT jobs and American Iron & Metal Co with 6 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Teck Resources recorded an increase of 150% with 5 job postings during August 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 72.09%, up by 121.43% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 20.93% share, registered a decline of 30.77% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 6.98% share, down 40% over July 2022.
