The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 7.6% in December 2021 when compared with November 2021.

Out of the mining industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.14% share in December 2021, recording a decrease of 1.04% over the last three-month average share.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 30% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s mining industry during December 2021 over November 2021.

Teck Resources posted 6 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a rise of 100% over the previous month, followed by Kinross Gold with 3 jobs and a flat growth. Teck Coal with 2 IT jobs and EVRAZ North America with 1 jobs, recorded a 50% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while Iamgold recorded a flat growth with 1 job postings during December 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 53.33%, down by 52.94% from November 2021. Entry Level positions with a 26.67% share, registered an increase of 33.33% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 20% share, down 57.14% over November 2021.
